Regulation in India: Theory, Practice and Reform
TrustBridge is proud to collaborate with Ashoka University’s Isaac Centre for Public Policy (ICPP) and XKDR Forum on curating the book, Regulation in India: Theory, Practice and Reform. The initiative has evolved through a series of conferences held across India, culminating in a final convening in Bengaluru in May 2026.
Insights from these discussions will inform a forthcoming edited volume. Drawing on the experiences of policymakers, regulators, academics, and practitioners, this book seeks to document how regulation works in India and identify practical, implementable ideas for reform.
Conference Series

Mumbai Conference | December 2025
The first conference in the series brought together members of the regulatory community to discuss key questions relating to regulation in India and to help shape the direction of the book project.
Hyderabad Conference | January 2026
The second conference continued the conversation, bringing together policymakers, regulators, academics, and practitioners to contribute perspectives on regulatory governance and reform.
Bengaluru Conference | May 2026
The final conference in the series brought together former and current regulators, civil servants, academics, and practitioners to reflect on the evolution of regulatory practice in India.
The participants examined how India’s regulatory institutions can be strengthened through improvements in design, capacity, governance, and accountability. The discussions generated practical insights for improving regulatory effectiveness and informed the themes and recommendations that will be reflected in the book.
